Les Mielles Tennis Club busy first half year
by Betty Gavey

This year got off to a wonderful start following a very successful Open Day. The Club has been busy holding a Spring Junior Camp (3 days of tennis for our younger members), a Quiz Night, a Corporate Day, a tournament against Grainville, a three day visit from our tennis friends in Minehead. We saw out the month of May with a Junior Tournament.
Early June was a little cold and very wet at times but we still kept playing. Some members are participating in the External League and others have already played their initial matches in our Internal Summer League. The sun has since come out to play and so we were able to enjoy an American Tournament and a barbecue. We have, of course, been keeping up with Andy Murray’s very successful progress by popping in to take a peek at the Club House television between our own matches! Wimbledon is about to begin so several of our members are visiting this prestigious event whilst the rest of us will enjoy it on screen and if we do indulge in the odd bowl of strawberries and cream we will soon work that off with a game or two of tennis.
We are looking forward to hosting the Volaw Jersey Junior Closed Tournament which will run from 24th to 28th August inclusive. It will be the first time Les Mielles Tennis Club host the event on behalf of the JLTA and we are delighted to have been given this opportunity. Spectators are very welcome to come along to the Tournament and indeed visitors will always be made welcome at Les Mielle Tennis Club.
