The offical online newsletter of the Parish of St. Brelade, Jersey

We were privileged on 25th May to be joined by His Excellency the Lt.Governor General Andrew Ridgway and Mrs Ridgway during the walk organized in the Parish in order to support the Variety club.

Some 120 people met at at Mont a la Brune and were divided into four groups by Frank Falle and his team of ‘Blue Badge’ guides. We had been given special permission by several property owners to pass over their land. Our thanks go to them as without their consent it would have been impossible to accomplish our route. Centenier Steve Pallett and CO Richard Stent saw the walkers across the busy roads safely. We ended back at the start point and made our way to the Parish Hall for well earned sustenance.

The hall had been beautifully laid out by Janet our caretaker who had been busy making soup and an apple pie dessert. Brendan from the Yacht Club had kindly brought down the main course and we owe him a debt of gratitude for his professional skills.

Jenny Anfrey organised some fabulous place mats depicting the Parish Hall and harbour and we were pleased that many took them home as souvenirs. We were delighted that General Ridgeway won a painting of St.Brelade’s Church in the raffle and I am sure it will be retained as a memento of his visit to our Parish.
